The Barstow Television Network (BTVN)

The Barstow Television Network (or BTVN) produces student-led broadcasts every Tuesday through Friday. As part of the production team, students are responsible for planning, scripting, and hosting each daily show. They also create custom intros and feature segments using industry-standard Adobe software, including Premiere Pro, After Effects, and Photoshop, gaining hands-on experience in every aspect of broadcast journalism.

Interview With Taylor Kay Phillips: Emmy Award-winning Writer, Actor & Comedian

OCT. 2022 – These are the short and long versions of an online interview I conducted and edited my junior year of high school with Taylor Kay Phillips. Not only is she an actor, comedian, and Emmy award-winning writer for Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, she is also an alumna of my high school, The Barstow School.

My interview was mentioned as part of an IN Kansas City Magazine article.

Introverted in an Extroverted World: A Social Commentary

JAN. 2021 – This was my first social commentary piece, created during my freshman year of high school, where I stretched beyond traditional journalism to experiment with personal storytelling. I explored the theme of being “introverted in an extroverted world” through filming myself engaging in various creative activities. Through this project, my intention was to foster a more understanding, connected, and less judgmental world.

Interview With Isaac Alongi: Emmy Award-winning Cinematographer

MAY 2021 – I conducted and edited this online interview during my freshman year of high school with Isaac Alongi, an Emmy award-winning cinematographer. This conversation gave me early insight into the creative process behind the camera and sparked my growing interest in visual media and storytelling.

NOV. 2020 – This is an online interview done my freshman year of high school with Michael MacCambridge, a renowned sports author, journalist, and TV commentator. He’s also an alum of my high school, The Barstow School, making the conversation especially meaningful.
