9th Grade: This piece definitely tested my creativity, filming and editing skills. For this intro, my idea was to turn it into a mini story, as I didn’t want to just make an intro of leaf shots with the BTVN logo stuck onto it. Trying to piece it all together into a final piece was hard, and I think it still needs more work. I tried animating the BTVN logo, and which was time-consuming, but I’ve gotten better. Hopefully this is a good intro that can be used to enhance future shows. That was my goal at least…
Flower BTVN Intro
9th Grade: Making this intro was challenging as it was my first time using After Effects. The idea for this intro evolved since I first thought of it, but I knew I wanted to do something nature/spring themed. I had the idea to somehow animate a flower growing with After Effects, so I set out to Youtube to find a tutorial. I followed the tutorial exactly but couldn’t get my composition to look like the Youtuber’s. I decided to try and figure it out, and while it didn’t turn out exactly how I envisioned I think it is pretty cool. After making this, I learned some of the basics of After Effects, and I became excited to use it more in the future!
Beach BTVN Intro
10th Grade: I went to the beach in San Diego, California during the summer and shot a ton of videos. I thought it would be cool to turn them into an intro and that’s what I did! I had to learn how to mask text with the custom shape mask setting, and then I had to figure out the keys to get the closing shot of the water washing away the BTVN letters. I think it turned out really cool in the end, and that masking will be a useful skill for my future pieces! I also learned some new video effects on premiere to make this piece.

Halloween Pumpkin BTVN Intro
11th Grade: I knew I wanted to make a Halloween intro to put to use many of the skills I learned in the Intro to Adobe After Effects class. From my prior knowledge, I could make the shapes of the pumpkin and then added effects to create shadows and highlights, making it more 3D. Making the letters appear like they were being carved out of the pumpkin was a challenge, though, but I remembered I could use the trim paths feature. The movement of the bats was also challenging to coordinate, as there were around 10 bats and numerous keyframes as a result. Finally, initially dealing with 30+ layers was very confusing, but I managed to develop an easier way to rename and organize them. I am extremely proud of how this turned out, and it was fun to make!
New York BTVN Intro
11th Grade: This intro was inspired by my trip to New York I took over winter break. I thought it would be really cool if I shot some clips and thankfully, they all seemed to fit together. I tried to make the movement of the shots and cuts flow together seamlessly. My goal was to make this intro engaging and pleasing to the eye, and I think I was mostly successful. I struggled to gain inspiration for this piece, but I played around and discovered some interesting effects to use on After Effects. I really like my music choice and think it fits well with the atmosphere of the city. One of my favorite parts is the masking/rotoscoping of the State of Liberty to make text go behind it.
England BTVN Intro
11th Grade: This intro was inspired by my trip to London I took over spring break. I unknowingly took 500+ videos to use for this Intro across England in London, Bath, Salisbury and other small cities in the Cotswolds. Thus, it was definitely a challenge choosing which ones to include. Similar to my New York intro, while I was editing I tried to make the shots and cuts flow together, and seem more pleasing to the eye. I tried to make some of the shots lead into each other, like in the part where I cut from an aerial view of the London Bridge to a closeup shot of the bridge. I think my music choice fits well with shots I got of England, and I like how I cut the shots together to change with the music. I think this adds to the cohesiveness of the piece. Overall, I am really proud of how this Intro turned out.
